Snakes and Ladders Rules

Snakes and ladders is a game for 2 to 4 players and is played on a snakes and ladders board.

The object of the game is to land on the 100th square. Each player starts by selecting a coloured pawn and places it on number one square. Each player then throws the dice. The player throwing the highest number starts the game first, with remaining players following in a clockwise sequence.

Players can either start moving along the board immediately beginning with the Snakes and Laddersfirst number rolled. Alternatively players can be asked to roll a six before starting the game.

Each layer moves his pawn along the squares in accordance with the number thrown on the die. The snakes and ladders board must be ascended in a numerical order.

If a player lands on a square bearing the foot of a ladder, the player must move his pawn up the ladder to the square at the top, jumping the intermediate squares. If a player lands on the head of a snake the player must go down the snake to the square at it's tail.

The game continues with players throwing the die in turn until one of them reaches the 10th square with an exact throw.

If a player's throw is higher than the number needed for his pawn to land on the last square, he has to count the difference in descending order, for example, if the pawns is on square 97 and the player throws a 5 he must move forward three squares and then back two squares to 8
